Throughout her childhood, Louise Glover was the object of derisive remarks based on her appearance. Her dark eyes and hair brought out jeers and other rude outbursts from her fairer classmates in western Australia, despite the fact that her family was white. Based on her looks alone, her peers assumed she was an Aborigine. Years later, Glover discovered that she was a lesbian, and moved away from home. Black Sheep is an account of her search for her family origins after her departure, and reveals the long-kept family secret on her father’s side behind her dark appearance.
