“Bodies in Trouble” (1991) is an experimental documentary directed by Canadian artist and filmmaker Marusya Bociurkiw. The film portrays the lesbian body as a battlefield during the conservative backlash of the early 1990s. By juxtaposing sexual passion with sexual fear, Bociurkiw blends lesbian erotica with danger and courage. Drawing on events like the Sex Garage raid in Montreal, the film critiques the political and social pressures faced by lesbian communities.
