Desire/Ability is a short documentary that explores the relationship between sexuality and romance in the life of a man with multiple disabilities. The film follows Matthew Archibald’s search for a genuine partner—one who is not a caregiver, a savior, or simply someone doing a good deed—and the challenges he faces along the way. Matthew Archibald previously appeared in Davo Hardy’s films A Silent Agreement (2017) and Aaron’s Consent (2014). This documentary reflects the decade-long friendship between Hardy and Archibald. The film was screened in 2023 at the Erotica Art & Film Festival in Melbourne and the Out & Loud – Pune International Queer Film Festival in India.
