God Has AIDS (2021) is a bold and artistic manifesto featuring seven artists and an activist doctor who take the stage to break down prejudices about HIV and AIDS in Brazil. On the 40th anniversary of the AIDS epidemic, this documentary challenges heteronormativity and the binary of sexual identity through dance, performance, and poetry, presenting HIV from a contemporary perspective. In Bolsonaro’s Brazil, these artists use their platform to give voice to the invisible and help deepen the understanding of the bodies of people living with HIV. The film is a powerful call to resist serophobia, emphasizing that HIV is not only a health struggle but also a fight for humanity.
