Orlando, My Politic Biography

Orlando, My Politic Biography
98',

Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s 1928 novel Orlando, this experimental documentary marks writer and philosopher Paul B. Preciado’s first feature-length directorial work. Preciado brings together 26 TGD individuals, ranging in age from 8 to 70, each embodying the character of Orlando on screen. This polyphonic narrative blends personal experiences and gender transitions with Woolf’s fictional universe, presenting gender not as a fixed identity but as an ongoing process of transformation. Interweaving his own life story and philosophical reflections with the voices of the participants, Preciado explores the legal, medical, and social barriers faced by trans and non-binary people. The documentary also functions as a political manifesto, inviting viewers to question normative understandings of gender.
