This documentary offers an in-depth look at the activities of an unofficial LGBTQ+ student group at Brigham Young University (BYU) and the challenges its members face. Students risk disciplinary action for simple acts such as holding hands with a same-sex partner, spending time together, or changing their names. Directors Purves and Young began this project while they were students at BYU themselves, and throughout the film, they sincerely capture the students’ experiences, emotional struggles, and sense of solidarity. The documentary powerfully illustrates how LGBTQ+ students maintain their identities and presence at BYU, the obstacles they encounter, and the resilience they show in confronting them.
