This powerful documentary follows Pennsylvania State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta’s 2022 U.S. Senate campaign and personal journey. Kenyatta describes himself as “a poor, Black, gay man from North Philadelphia,” and sets out with the goal of becoming the first openly gay Black man elected to the U.S. Senate. The film explores the challenges he faces on the campaign trail, the biases he encounters in the media, and questions how the concept of “electability” is shaped by race, class, and gender identity. It also offers a moving portrait of his relationship with his husband, Dr. Matthew Kenyatta, presenting a story where politics and love intertwine.
