Pepsi was born in a Muslim military camp on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. Due to the pressures she faced because of her gender identity and sexual orientation, she was forced to flee—first to Libya, and later to Europe. Shelter: Farewell to Eden tells the story of Pepsi’s arduous journey, her search for identity, and her fight for human rights. Blending her experiences with a mythological narrative, the documentary honors her struggle to exist on the margins of modern Europe.
