For the Love of Friends tells the story of activist Brent Nicholson Earle, who, in 1986, ran across the United States to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS. Over the course of this journey, Earle ran nearly 10,000 miles, pushing beyond his physical limits, societal prejudice, and widespread indifference to the disease to spark powerful awareness. After later being diagnosed with HIV himself, Earle continued his activism, integrating performance art into his advocacy and giving his struggle a new dimension. Through archival footage, personal testimonies, and stage performances, the documentary powerfully captures this unique form of resistance, showing how individual courage can become part of a collective memory. For the Love of Friends is a poignant reminder of solidarity, love, and the ongoing fight for visibility.
